The city of Bend will mark Arbor Week April 1-7 by planting a tree and hosting a field day for students.

Highland Elementary School students will join the Bend Park & Recreation District at 1:30 p.m. Monday to help plant a new tree in Drake Park. Students will receive pine saplings to plant at home, and the event is open to the public.

On Thursday, about 200 area high school students will participate in a natural resource field day from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Shevlin Park. People with jobs in natural resources will explain their fields through hands-on activities and teach students about career opportunities.
