Deaths of note from around the world:
Dick Wilmarth, 75: Musher who won the first Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in 1973. He finished the race from Anchorage to Nome in 20 days, about twice as long as it takes mushers today. Died Wednesday of cancer.
Li Ao, 82: Taiwanese writer and politician whose fiery anti-establishment polemics, provocative antics and unwavering support for reunification with China made him one of Taiwan’s most recognizable figures. Died March 18 of brain cancer in Taipei.
Kak Channthy, 38: Lead singer and songwriter of the Cambodian Space Project. She was dubbed the Cambodian Amy Winehouse. Died March 20 in Phnom Penh in a tuk-tuk crash.
