Ghost Light leads the way at Volcanic

Fans of the modern jam-band scene (there’s a few in Central Oregon, right?) won’t want to miss Ghost Light’s performance at Volcanic Theatre Pub on Thursday. The supergroup, currently on its inaugural tour, features a powerful lineup of familiar faces — American Babies’ Tom Hamilton (also guitarist for Joe Russo’s Almost Dead) and Raina Mullen; former Dopapod drummer Scotty Zwang; and Nicos Gun bassist Steve Lyons — alongside rising classical pianist Holly Bowling, best known for her solo piano arrangements of Phish and Grateful Dead jams.

First coming together in a Philadelphia studio, the band is testing its improvisational chops on the road — you can hear audio from some early shows at the band’s website, ghostlightband.com.

Ghost Light: 8 p.m. Thursday; $12 plus fees in advance, $15 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; volcanictheatre.com or 541-323-1881.
