Sunnyside Sports to lead free women’s road rides — Women from Sunnyside Sports in Bend will lead road rides each Sunday in preparation for Tour Des Chutes on July 14. The rides will leave Sunnyside Sports on Northwest Newport Avenue at 10 a.m. each Sunday. There will be separate groups based on pace, but riders should expect paces somewhere between 11 and 18 miles per hour. Group members must have a reliable road, cross or gravel bike, flat changing equipment, and food and water for a two-hour ride. BPRD league meeting Wednesday — Organizational meetings for the Bend Park & Recreation District adult softball leagues will be held Wednesday at the district office at 799 SW Columbia St. The meeting for the coed league will begin at 6 p.m. and the men’s league meeting will follow at 6:45 p.m. All teams participating in the league must have a team member at the meeting. Registration order and fee schedules will be determined at the meeting. The leagues will have a 12-game schedule running from May 7 to Aug. 3. Games will be played at Pine Nursery Sports Complex and Skyline Sports Complex on weekday evenings. Entry costs $360 per team. Pole PEdal PAddle
PPP registration price to increase soon; MBSEF now accepting vendors — Online registration for the Pole Pedal Paddle is now available at www.pppbend.com, with fees varying from $40 per person for age 12 and under teams and $190 for full family teams. The entry cost for each division will increase by $10 on April 12. The PPP, a six-leg multisport race from Mount Bachelor to the Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend, will be held May 19. Online registration is also open for the Kids’ Mini PPP, a race for teams of kids in kindergarten through fifth grade that will be held May 20. Entry costs $150 for a team of six. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation, which hosts the PPP as a fundraiser, is also seeking vendors for the post-PPP celebration at Les Schwab Amphitheater. According to MBSEF, more than 10,000 race participants and spectators visit the finish line between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on race day.
