A five-run lead was nearly unsafe for Ridgeview on Tuesday, but it was just enough for the Ravens to put away Summit in their Intermountain Conference baseball opener.

Ridgeview sprinted out of the gate with two runs in the top of the first inning and added two more in the third and another run in the fourth to grab a five-run advantage over the host Storm. After scoring two runs in the top of the sixth inning, it seemed the Ravens would cruise to victory. But Summit plated four runs in the home half of the seventh inning before Ridgeview’s Kade Nyman closed the door on the comeback and secured the Ravens’ 7-6 win.

Nyman also had three hits for Ridgeview (2-7), which snapped a five-game skid. Hudson Harbolt had two hits for the Ravens, Ryan Wellman drove in three runs, and starting pitcher Garrett Martin struck out nine over six innings.

The Storm (1-1 IMC, 1-7 overall) had runners on the corners with two outs in the last inning but could not bring across the tying run. Hayden Love had two hits and three RBIs for Summit, which lost its fourth straight, and Evan Scalley drove in two runs.
