Bendites are no doubt aware of China Forbes’ vocal talents with Portland’s “little orchestra” Pink Martini, which has been playing at Les Schwab Amphitheater every other year for as long as there’s been a Les Schwab Amphitheater. This is an off-year for the group, but Martini fans clearly needed their fix — Forbes’ three solo shows closing out Jazz at the Oxford on Friday and Saturday have been sold out for some time. (Forbes was originally scheduled to perform in January, but the dates were postponed due to the singer’s shoulder surgery.) Of course, “Martini fans” could just be music fans in general — like her main band, Forbes is a musical chameleon with the vocal chops to pull of everything from bubbly pop to show tunes to intricate jazz standards. Expect the latter, probably — this is Jazz at the Oxford, after all.
