Dale Earl Fox of Powell Butte, passed away surrounded by his loving family at dawn on Good Friday, March 30, 2018. He was born seventh of eight children on June 20, 1942, in Deschutes County, to Earl and Alice Fox.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, two stepsons, and 5 grandchildren. Dale grew up in Central Oregon on a ranch in Prineville and later moved to a dairy in Bend. He joined the Navy right after graduating from Bend High School in 1960. He was deployed as a surgical technician during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After being honorably discharged, he began a career in aerospace engineering. He opened and operated DE Fox Company, an aerospace machine shop making parts for planes like the 747s and the B2 Bombers.

He married the love of his life, Phongpun (Ping) Makaratad on March 31, 1989. He returned to Central Oregon to ranch with her and his daughter, Michelle (Molly) Conn in 1994. He loved his family, ranching and especially his beloved cows. He enjoyed hot coffee, cold coca cola, good food, and a fierce game of pinochle. His only vacations were to the huckleberry patch every August. He always worked hard, he was generous with his spoils and had a joke or funny story ready to share. He was a great man who lived a fulfilling life doing what he wanted to do, how he wanted to do it.
