Elektrapod throws going-away bash for vocalist

The bad news: Central Oregon music fans won’t be seeing much of Elektrapod in 2018. The funk/rock/jam/soul band’s frontwoman Ze Rox leaves town this month to attend a nine-month program at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, Arizona. The good news: Rox won’t leave without rocking us one last time.

Her going-away party at Volcanic Theatre Pub on Friday promises to be a late-night dance freakout, soundtracked by two long sets from Elektrapod. And finally, the better news: As mentioned above, the program is nine months, so this is a hiatus for Elektrapod, not a breakup. Rox, who recently teased a video for her solo single “All the Time,” will return to play select shows with the band over the summer as well, but Friday will be your only chance to see a full-length show from Elektrapod in 2018.

Elektrapod: 9 p.m. Friday; $10 plus fees in advance, $12 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; volcanictheatre.com or 541-323-1881.
