REDMOND — Ondriah Oyloe’s suicide squeeze bunt brought Audrey McKenzie home with the tiebreaking run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Redmond pulled out an 8-7 Intermountain Conference softball victory over Mountain View on Wednesday at the Panthers’ home field.

It was the second dramatic win over the Cougars in as many days for Redmond, which won 4-3 in eight innings at Mountain View on Tuesday in the conference opener for both teams.

The Cougars (0-2 IMC, 1-3 overall) were in charge early in Wednesday’s game, thanks largely to Kayla Berg, whose three-run homer in the third inning put the visitors on top 4-0. And it was 6-0, with Berg pitching shutout ball, before the Panthers (2-0, 4-6) turned the tide with a five-run fifth inning that featured consecutive doubles by Scout DeMain, Brooklyn Thompson and Oyloe.

Mountain View tacked on a run in the top of the sixth for a 7-5 lead, but Redmond rallied again in the home half to score three runs, the last on Oyloe’s successful squeeze bunt.

Onika Mullins, who came on to pitch for the Panthers in the sixth inning, got out of trouble in the seventh with a strikeout to end the game with the potential tying run on third base.

For Redmond, McKenzie was 3-for-3, DeMain had two hits and three RBIs, Thompson had two hits, and Oyloe drove in two runs.

Berg, who finished with 10 strikeouts in a complete-game pitching effort, delivered the biggest of Mountain View’s seven hits with her home run. Also for the Cougars, Alina Demeyer had a triple, a double and a single, and Emily Antoni was 2-for-3.

The two teams meet for the third time this week Friday at Mountain View.
