The City of Redmond is working with the Redmond Parks Foundation to raise money for an asphalt bike pump track to be constructed at Homestead Park.
The proposed pump track features rolling turns and jumps. The project was introduced to the Redmond City Council in July as a way to provide a safe place for bike riders in Redmond. Led by Trinity Bikes mechanic Trevor Elson, the proposal turned into a collaboration with city staff and youth in the community.
The Redmond Parks Foundation set a fundraising goal of $50,000.
“What started a year ago as a group of young, frustrated Redmond bicycle riders, has grown into a new, exciting bike park for the community,” said Annie McVay, parks division manager, in a press release. “In additional to monetary donations, we are also looking for local businesses who can help defray project costs by donating goods and services such as fill materials, asphalt mix, and assistance with site excavation and prep.”
