Strong performances for Summit at Jim Robinson Twilight Invitational

ROSEBURG — Going up against athletes from 23 other teams from across the state, the Summit track and field athletes posted some solid results at the Jim Robinson Twilight Invitational Saturday.

The non-team-scoring meet included teams from various classifications.

For the Summit girls, Fiona Max won the 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 46.95 seconds. Haley Smith won the discus for the Storm with a throw of 127 feet, 61⁄2 inches. Summit also won the 4×400 relay in 4:10.98.

Emma Normand of Summit finished second in the 200 (27.17 seconds), Maddie Hagfors was second in the 300 hurdles (48.56), and Morgan Hanson finished second in the 400 (1:01.31) for the Storm.

For the La Pine girls, Jordynn Slater won both the javelin (141-2) and the shot put (38-7.5)

Ryan Tennant led the Summit boys, winning both the long jump (23-2) and the triple jump (44-5). Noah Turnbull won the discus (152-10) and took second in the shot put (51-1) for the Storm.

“It’s not a team scoring event, and that’s why we like it,” said Summit coach Dave Turnbull of the Jim Robinson Twilight. “We can just see how we do. We had a lot of great performances and a lot of young kids getting an opportunity.”

Ridgeview girls second at Sandy Invite: SANDY — The Ridgeview girls finished second (88 points) and Redmond was third (64.5) at the Sandy Invitational. For the Ridgeview girls, Gabi Crouch won both the 100 (12.89) and the 200 (27.62). For Redmond, Kimberly Roberts won the 3,000 in 11:49.31. Hood River Valley won the girls meet with a score of 174. In the boys meet, Ridgeview finished third (63 points) and Redmond was eighth (35). Albert Hesse of Ridgeview won the 3,000 in 9:18.10 and the 1,500 in 4:05.61. Sandy won the boy’s meet with a score of 172 and Hood River Valley finished second.

Boys lacrosse

Sisters 10, Corvallis 7: Ethan Morgan led the Outlaws (3-2) with five goals in the nonconference victory. Trey Stadeli added two goals and one assist, and Casey Warburton had 12 saves in goal.

Ridgeview 15, South Salem 0: Goalie Elliott Smith posted the shutout to lead the Ravens (3-2) to the nonconference win. Mike Ashley had three goals and two assists, Jake Matheson finished with three goals, Danny McGinty added three goals and one assist, and Brantley Biondi had two goals and two assists for Ridgeview.

Central Catholic 15, Summit 10: The Storm (1-4) fell in nonconference action.

West Salem 8, Bend 5: The Lava Bears dropped to 4-6 with the nonconference loss.

Mountain View 12, Churchill 10: The Cougars improved to 3-1 with the nonconference win over the Lancers.

Girls lacrosse

Sherwood 9, Summit 7: Erin McIntyre scored three goals and Julia Stites added two goals for the Storm in the nonconference setback, the first loss of the season for Summit (5-1).

Boys lacrosse

West Albany 11, Sisters 6: ALBANY — Ethan Morgan had five goals and an assist, but the Outlaws fell in nonconference play. Tyler Friend scored once for Sisters.
