Adaptive Sports
“Spin into Spring” OAS fundraiser set — “Spin into Spring,” a fundraiser for Oregon Adaptive Sports, will be held at the Athletic Club of Bend on May 6. Participants will pay $100 for an hourlong ride on stationary bikes, starting at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m. or 11 a.m., or $400 for a four-hour “epic” ride. Enduro race coming to Bachelor — The Mt. Bachelor Volcanic Enduro will be held at Mount Bachelor on Aug. 25 as part of the Volcanic Bike & Brew Festival. The race is part of the Cascadia Dirt Cup series. Entry costs $99. To learn more, visit www.racecascadia.com/volcanicenduro.
Pickleball
Free pickleball lessons in Redmond — Free pickleball lessons will be held at Sam Johnson Park in Redmond on April 14, 21 and 28 for ages 13 and older. Roughriders rout Salem club — Levi Penter scored six tries and the Bend Rugby Club completed scheduled season play undefeated Saturday with a 124-12 victory over the Salem Spartans at High Desert Middle School in Bend. Next match for the Roughriders (10-0 league, 13-3 overall) will be at 10 a.m. this Saturday at Big Sky Park in Bend against the 43rd State Crimson Lions of Boise, Idaho, in a championship match for Division 3 of the Pacific Northwest Rugby Union. The winner of that game will advance to the Pacific Coast Territorial championship on April 24 in San Francisco.
Bend Blues drop home game — The Bend Blues lost 41-19 to the Valley Rams of McMinnville on Saturday in a Rugby Oregon High School Boys Club Division game at High Desert Middle School in Bend. Nate Denney scored two tries and Haakon Kjellesvik scored one try and two conversions for the Blues (0-3 league), whose next game is at 11:30 a.m. this Saturday at Big Sky Park against the Salem Rugby Lost Boys.
Pole PEdal Paddle
PPP volunteers needed — Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation needs 550 volunteers to serve in various roles at the Pole Pedal Paddle, the annual six-stage relay race from Mount Bachelor to Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend that this year is scheduled for May 19. Bunyi wins monthly tournament — Harold Bunyi won the Bend Table Tennis Club March round-robin tournament on March 28, beating Paul Sample 3-2 in the A Group final. David Mara beat Tom Howes 3-0 in the third-place match. John Furgurson beat Jim Fiore of Ashland 2-0 in the B Group final. The next round-robin tournament will be held April 18.
