Ridgeview takes home meet

REDMOND — A flurry of personal records fell in a three-team track and field meet at Ridgeview High on Wednesday, several of which allowed the Ravens to successfully defend their home field.
Trevor McBride won the boys 100-meter dash and set a PR of 23.03 seconds in a first-place finish in the 200, Micah Cupp won the 400 in a personal-best 51.52 seconds, and Ridgeview, with 68 points, defeated runner-up Summit by six points. La Pine was third with 45 points.
The Storm girls cruised to victory with 103 points. Ridgeview was second with 42 points, followed by La Pine with 22.
Luke Hannay won the boys javelin and was second in both the shot put and the discus for Ridgeview, which also benefited from victories by Albert Hesse (800) and Kian Bangerter (1,500).
Noah Turnbull (shot put, discus) and Ryan Tennant (long jump, triple jump) each won two events for the Storm. Summit’s Mitchell Burton was first in the 110 hurdles, Jackson Buresh won the high jump, and Forrest Franklin took the pole vault for Summit. La Pine’s Chandler George was first in the 300 hurdles and runner-up in both the 110 hurdles and the long jump.
For the Summit girls, Birdie Wieche set personal records with victories in the 100 (12.84 seconds) and the triple jump (33 feet, 3 inches). Asha Turnbull tied for first in the long jump, along with teammate Alexandra Walker, and took second in the triple jump and the 200. Liv Downing won the 1,500 in a personal-best 5:03.17 for Summit, and Elizabeth Verheyden took the pole vault with a PR of 10 feet.
Gabi Crouch paced the Ravens with a win in the 400, in a personal-record 1:03.16, while Ellie Codding took second in both the shot put and the discus. La Pine’s Jordynn Slater swept the throws with victories in the shot put, discus and javelin.

Cougars sweep Panthers: With 10 athletes claiming individual wins, the Mountain View boys rolled to a 90-18 dual win over visiting Redmond, and three two-event winners helped the Mountain View girls complete the sweep with a 94-10 victory. For the boys, Jayden Harris (800), Nathaniel Cannon (3,000), Reed Sehorn (discus) and Braden Desmarais (pole vault) all set personal records en route to first-place finishes for the Cougars. Tyson Hester led the Panthers with a win in the 110 hurdles, while Sam Eldridge (3,000) and Stephen Saucedo (triple jump) each placed second. Bailey Dickerson set personal bests in winning both the 100 and the 200 for the Mountain View girls. The Cougs’ Sydney Davis won the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, and Cassidy Hughes was first in both the shot put and the discus. Redmond’s Kimberly Roberts won the 1,500, and Ellie Corwin took second in the shot put.

Bend 13, Ridgeview 3: Cole Frey and Austin Jones each doubled and drove in three runs to power the Lava Bears to an Intermountain Conference win. Marshall Davis had a home run, a single and an RBI for Bend (2-0 IMC, 6-4 overall), and Tysen Scott had two hits, including a double. Kade Nyman paced Ridgeview (1-4, 2-11) with a double and an RBI, while Griffin Dietz had a hit and an RBI.
Summit 12, Redmond 2: The Storm scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning en route to a six-inning Intermountain Conference victory. Logan Peterson homered and had two singles and two RBIs for Summit (5-1 IMC, 5-7 overall), and Wolf Meckem had three hits and two RBIs. Sam Waterman added two hits, including a homer, and three RBIs for Summit, and Evan Scalley had two hits and drove in a run. Kyle Simpson finished with two hits and an RBI for Redmond (2-3, 6-8), and Austin Carter added two hits.
Estacada 5, Madras 3: MADRAS — The White Buffaloes scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning but that was all the offensive production they could muster in a Tri-Valley Conference loss. Cameron Rodriguez had two hits for Madras (2-1 TVC, 7-4 overall), and Byron Patt struck out six in 4 2⁄3 innings.
Softball
Ridgeview 15, Bend 3: Emma Cannon had a pair of RBI singles and Taylor Smith had a two-run single in a 10-run third inning that propelled the visiting Ravens to an Intermountain Conference win. Marley Sargent had two hits and an RBI for Ridgeview (5-0 IMC, 10-1 overall), and Sage McVay had a double and a triple. Jessie Wiest had an RBI double for Bend (0-2, 3-8-1), Emma Mone doubled, and Erin Conrad drove in a run.
Redmond 11, Summit 8: Heather Partridge and Brooklyn Thompson each had two hits and three RBIs to lead Redmond past Summit for the second day in a row. Scout DeMain had two hits and scored three runs, Kiki Fierstos had two hits, and Partridge and Fierstos each scored two runs for the visiting Panthers, who improved to 4-1 in Intermountain Conference play (6-7 overall). Summit was led by Amanda Mellor, who was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Also for the Storm (0-5, 0-10), Molly Wasserman and Giuliana Alberghetti had two hits apiece, and Hailey Nelson scored two runs.
The Dalles 9, Mountain View 0: THE DALLES — The Cougars (2-5) fell in a nonconference game.
Crook County 11-15, Corbett 0-1: PRINEVILLE — Ashley Owens went 6-for-9 with six RBIs over two games to lead the Cowgirls to a Tri-Valley Conference sweep. In the opener, Owens had two hits and three RBIs for Crook County, Berkley Puckett had two hits and two RBIs, and Brooke Dalton contributed two hits. Emma Ackley was 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs for the Cowgirls. Owens went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in the second game for Crook County (4-0 TVC, 10-4 overall), and Ackley was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run. Puckett drove in two runs and had a single and a double, Kalyn Martinez was 2-for-2 with a homer and four RBIs, and Mekynzie Wells doubled and tripled for the Cowgirls.
Madras 13, Estacada 2: ESTACADA — Jiana Smith Francis struck out four in a complete game and had a double and an RBI to help the White Buffaloes remain unbeaten in the Tri-Valley Conference. Mary Olney and Niyallee Cochran each went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Madras (3-0 TVC, 7-3 overall), which won its sixth straight.
