LA PINE — They had the home-field advantage Saturday, and the La Pine Hawks made the most of it.

With Chandler George winning three events, the La Pine boys posted 157.5 points to place first at the 12-team La Pine Invitational track and field meet. The Class 3A Hawks finished ahead of split-squad 5A teams representing Summit, which had 143.25 points, and Mountain View, which finished with 107.5 points.

In the girls team standings, the partial Storm team racked up 174 points to win the title, while La Pine finished runner-up with 93 points. Culver was third with 71 points.

George set a personal record of 42.26 seconds en route to victory in the boys 300-meter hurdles for the Hawks, and he also won the 100 meters and the 110 hurdles. La Pine’s Ben Plant was first in both the 200 and the javelin and took fourth in the 400, while Demetrius Dundas won the long jump with a PR of 18 feet, 11 inches.

The Hawks’ Daniel Underwood was runner-up in both the shot put and discus, setting PRs of 41-1 and 124-4, respectively.

Summit was headlined by Dylan Lambert, who was first in the 400 with a PR of 52.16 seconds and was second in the 200. Bryce Capuano posted a personal-best 2:10.65 to win the 800, while Zachry Weber (1,500) and Jackson Malace (3,000) each also won events for the Storm. Mountain View’s John Cole was first in the triple jump and second in the long jump, James Ravitch set a PR of 13-6 in a pole vault victory, and James King was first in the high jump.

Kash Michael and Johan James went 2-3 in the high jump to highlight Culver, which was eighth with 32 points. Gilchrist, which took 10th as a team, was led by Keny Spurlock’s third-place finish in the shot put with a PR of 41 feet.

Helping the Summit girls race away with the team championship was Asha Turnbull, who was first in the triple jump, third in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Stella Skovborg, with a time of 5:07.11 in the 1,500, and Ellie Skjersaa, with a time of 2:31.68 in the 800, each set personal records in their victories for the Storm. Summit’s Leah Pfeiffer won the pole vault.

For La Pine, Jordynn Slater won both the shot put and the javelin and was second in the discus. Olivia Flack recorded a PR of 11:59.01 to win the 3,000, and she took second in the 1,500, while Dakota Underwood finished third in the shot put and fifth in the javelin.

Irma Retano won the 100 and was runner-up in both the 800 and the 3,000 for Culver, while Catylynn Duff took first in the discus and set a PR of 37-10½ in a second-place finish in the shot.

Grace Graham finished fourth in the long jump and fifth in both the high jump and the triple jump for Mountain View, which was fifth as a team with 58 points. The Cougars’ Taryn Willman (pole vault) and Alexis Tuma (400) also posted fourth-place finishes. Skyla Newton won the 100 hurdles and was third in the 200 and fifth in the javelin for Gilchrist, which was sixth with 56 points, and Katie McDaniel finished second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles.
