Adaptive Sports

Registration for OAS summer programs opens May 1 — Sign-ups for Oregon Adaptive Sports summer programs open on May 1. Available activities include OASIS Outings for kids ages 8 to 15, which will meet on Wednesdays, cycling sessions on Mondays, paddling at Lava Lake, climbing at Bend Rock Gym and Smith Rock State Park and hiking at Lava Lake. Golf will be offered at Awbrey Glen Golf Club once a month, mountain biking will be offered at various locations around Bend, and Yoga for EveryBODY will meet Tuesdays at Tula Movement Arts. Volunteers 18 and older are also needed, and volunteer orientations will be offered on May 23 and June 25. To learn more about summer programs or volunteer, visit http://oregonadaptivesports.org/.

Multi Sports

Up the Crooked River Duathlon canceled — The Up the Crooked River Duathlon, which was to be held April 29 in Prineville, has been canceled due to sluggish preregistration.

Lacrosse

BPRD in need of referees — The Bend Park & Recreation District is in need of referees for the boys lacrosse league. Prospective officials should enjoy working with children and have basic lacrosse knowledge, although prior referee experience is not required. They must also pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check and be at least 14 years old. Officials are paid $15 to $34 per game, depending on the age of players being officiated. Games will be held at Big Sky Sports Complex starting on weekday afternoons and evenings from April 25 through June 1. Those interested in working as an official must attend a referees meeting at the BPRD office at 799 SW Columbia St. at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Cycling

Bend Bike Swap to be held this weekend — The Bend Bike Swap will be held at Thump Coffee at 549 NW York Drive from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Those who have equipment they would like to sell can register items at www.thebendbikeswap.com, and items can be dropped off early at Bend Endurance Academy at 442 NE Third Street between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday or Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Items can also be registered at Thump Coffee from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday or 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Items that are not sold can be picked up from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Proceeds benefit Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation and Bend Endurance Academy cycling programs.

Rugby

Roughriders advance to championship — The Bend Roughriders beat the 43rd State Crimson Lions from Boise 67-12 at Big Sky Sports Complex on Saturday to win the Pacific NW Rugby Union Division 3 championship. Kevin Wagner scored three tries and three conversions for the Roughriders, Levi Penter had two tries and Ryan Brown scored a try and three conversions. Bend will face the Northern California champion, which has yet to be determined, on April 28 for the Pacific Coast Territorial Championship.

Blues beat Lost Boys — The Bend Blues beat the Salem Lost Boys 39-34 at Big Sky Park in Bend on Saturday. Haakon Kjellesvik had two tries, three conversions and a penalty kick, and Nate Denney scored three tries. Fabian Ekholm and Spencer Rice each scored one try. The Blues, who are now 1-3 in the Rugby Oregon Club Championship Division, play Linn Benton in Albany on Saturday.

Softball

RAPRD adult softball starts in May — Registration is now open for the Redmond Area Park and Recreation District adult softball league, which will run from May through mid-August. Teams can register for the Monday night, Tuesday night or Thursday night recreational league for $310 or the Wednesday night competitive league for $610. Both the recreational and competitive leagues will conclude with a single-elimination playoff. Registration closes Friday, and late registrants will be charged an additional $25 if there is still room for them in the league. Track and Field

Bend Track Town youth meet to be held May 26 — The Track Town Youth League, a series of free meets for children ages 7 to 14, will host a meet at Pilot Butte Middle School in Bend on May 26. The meet includes the 100-, 400- and 1,500-meter races, long jump and turbojav. No experience is required, and kids of all abilities, including adaptive athletes, are welcome. Day-of-meet registration starts at 4:15 and the meet begins at 5:30 p.m. The top two finishers in each age group for each event qualify for the state championship, which will be held at Hayward Field in Eugene on June 9.
