8th-ranked Culver shuts out Dufur

CULVER — Cole Little struck out 10 batters, Tadd Anderson had two hits and scored two runs, and Culver opened the Class 2A/1A Special District 6 portion of its baseball schedule Monday with an 11-0 home victory over Dufur.

Anderson hit a double for the Bulldogs (1-0 SD6, 5-4 overall) and finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Little scored two runs for the winners, as did Weston Basl and Joe Russo.

Culver, ranked No. 8 in 2A/1A, meets Dufur again in a doubleheader Friday on the Rangers’ home field.

Molalla 9, Crook County 6: PRINEVILLE — Crook County’s Josh Norris had two hits, including a solo home run, and two RBIs in the Cowboys’ first Tri-Valley Conference loss of the season. Riley Forman added two RBIs for Crook County (4-1 TVC, 8-4 overall), which committed three costly errors. Kyle Knudtson started on the mound for the Cowboys, and he gave up five hits, walked four and struck out five.

Softball

Gladstone 16, Madras 0: MADRAS — The White Buffaloes’ seven-game winning streak was snapped with the five-inning Tri-Valley Conference loss. Madras (4-1 TVC, 8-4 overall) committed seven errors and gave up 15 hits to the visiting Gladiators. Lizzie Steuart led Madras at the plate, going 2-for-3. Jiana Smith Francis added a hit for the Buffaloes.
