The Central Oregon Guitar & Gear Swap Meet makes its triumphant return Saturday. Gear-hungry musicians have missed out on this for the last couple years — in 2016, Ted Engstrom, owner of Sunday Guitars, which sponsors the event, was in a motorcycle accident, forcing him to cancel that year, and he was unable to find a suitable venue for the growing swap meet last year, according to sales associate (and Engstrom’s fiancée) Laurie Hamilton.
But with new digs — still at Bend Factory Stores, where the event has always been hosted, but in a new suite — the event has room to expand. Expect up to 30 vendors selling all manner of kits, amplifiers, instruments, pedals, stereo equipment and even records. People also can hand-carry up to two items to sell at a fee of $2 per item. General admission costs $3 per person or free for kids ages 10 and younger, while an eight-foot vendor space costs $50 (fill out the vendor application at coguitarswap.com). Proceeds from a raffle will benefit the Cascades Rock Ensemble (CROCK) music education program.
Central Oregon Guitar & Gear Swap: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; $3 per person, free for kids 10 and younger; Bend Factory Stores, 61334 S. U.S. Highway 97, Suite 260, Bend; coguitarswap.com or 541-323-2332.
