Rebirth Brass Band returns to Domino Room

On Saturday, Beyoncé took the stage for her marching-band-heavy headlining set at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California to the strains of Rebirth Brass Band’s classic “Do Watcha Wanna.” Those moves once again showed the influence this New Orleans institution has had on everything from jazz to hip-hop to R&B to pop music. Now in its third decade of touring, Rebirth — founded by brothers Keith (bass drum) and Philip (sousaphone) Frazier in 1983 — has seen its profile soar in the public consciousness this decade thanks to the HBO series “Treme,” which focuses on the Tremé neighborhood where the band formed (band members also served as consultants on the series, and the group’s music featured prominently). Winners of the inaugural Grammy Award for Best Regional Roots Music Album in 2012, Rebirth will return to Bend to play the Domino Room with Scott Pemberton Band on Sunday.

Rebirth Brass Band, with Scott Pemberton Band: 8 p.m. Sunday, doors open at 7:30 p.m.; $22 plus fees in advance, $25 at the door; ages 21 and older; Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend, parallel44presents.com or 541-408-4329.
