If you happen to wander over to Volcanic Theatre Pub on Sunday and find grown men onstage dressed in colorful costumes engaging in pro-wrestling moves and human bowling, don’t be alarmed (too much). It’s just “action comic punk band” Peelander-Z, which debuted at the venue last year and returns in support of its 10th album, “GO PZ GO,” an exuberant mix of often non-sequitur English and Japanese chanting, big guitars and hooks that will make you want to jump onstage and join in the antics (good thing that kind of thing happens at the band’s shows). Though its members all hail from Japan, the group formed in New York City in 1998 — though according to internal lore, they’re all from the planet Peelander (naturally). This is another one that has to be seen live to be appreciated. Local indie/punk trio The Roof Rabbits, which just finished recording its debut album, “Creature Comforts,” opens the show.
Peelander-Z, with The Roof Rabbits: 9 p.m. Sunday; $10 plus fees in advance, $12 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; volcanictheatre.com or 541-323-1881.
