Ivadell “Ivy” L. Welsh died of congestive heart failure on Sunday morning, April 15, 2018 at St. Vincent Medical Center with her daughter, Connie and her granddaughter, Lindsey at her side.
Ivy was born in Carrington, ND where she lived with her mother and father and was one of four brothers and sisters.
In 1948, she married Bill Welsh, and moved to Oregon where they lived for several years in Salem raising their family before settling in Redmond, Oregon in 1968.
Her life was all about helping others. She volunteered for Redmond/Sisters Hospice for many years and was chosen volunteer of the year. She also delivered meals on wheels in Redmond and worked for the Redmond School District with the Special Needs children and supervised children on playground duty. Among her other favorite activities was playing Bridge with the Ladies, square dancing and clogging.
Ivy never had an unkind word to say about anyone or anything.
Ivy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; and her sister, Lavonne Zinck. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Pierson; and her sister, Jeannie Carlile; also survived by her son, Bill and his wife Michele; daughter, Connie and her husband Terry; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. They will all miss her love, kindness and support in their growing up years and her funny little sayings like “oofta” and “this too shall pass”.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 11 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon. Rosary at 11:30 a.m. Mass at noon. Contributions can be made in her name to the Redmond/Sisters Hospice organization in Redmond Oregon.
This beautiful, fun loving lady will be missed but never forgotten.
