Ducks drop 5th straight — Three Portland pitchers checked Oregon on four hits, and the Pilots beat the Ducks 2-1 Wednesday night at UP’s Joe Etzel Field. The nonconference loss was Oregon’s fifth consecutive setback. Hunter Montgomery’s home run in the second inning put Portland up 1-0, and the Ducks got even in the top of the third with a run-scoring double by Taylor Travess. The Pilots (16-24) took the lead for good in the bottom of the third on a two-out RBI double by Daniel Lopez. Travess was 2-for-3 to lead Oregon, which opens a three-game Pac-12 series against USC on Friday night at PK Park in Eugene.

49ers LB’s ex-girlfriend recants accusations — The attorney for the ex-girlfriend of Reuben Foster said Wednesday her client initially lied to authorities when she accused the San Francisco 49ers linebacker of hitting her leading to domestic violence charges. Attorney Stephanie Rickard issued a statement on behalf of Elissa Ennis on Wednesday that said her client can prove the injuries that led to the chargers were not caused by Foster. Foster was charged earlier this month with three felonies after being accused by authorities of dragging his girlfriend and punching her on the head, leaving her with a ruptured eardrum. Rickard said those injuries were caused by a fight with another woman and Ennis made the accusation against Foster because he threatened to break up with her.
