The Lambsbread brings the reggae to The Capitol

Bend has long had ties to Hawaii’s burgeoning reggae scene, with artists such as J Boog, Iration, Pepper, Hirie, The Green, Mike Love and more visiting the city over the years. The Lambsbread is a bit of a newcomer to Bend, having played The Capitol with Bernard Collins of The Abyssinians in August, but not to the roots-reggae scene. Matthew “Kaya” and Nadia Rathje have been delivering urgent harmonies, stone-cold grooves and a conscious outlook since 2003. Most recently, the Rathjes have welcomed a new generation of musicians to their band — namely, their kids Samuel (on drums) and Jacob (keyboards). The vocal duo returns to The Capitol for a headlining show Thursday, once again brought to you by the indefatigable DJ Colonel and Simmer Down Sounds.

The Lambsbread, with Arkaingelle, Zahira: 8 p.m. Thursday; $15 plus fees in advance, $20 at the door; The Capitol, 190 NW Oregon Ave., Bend; thecapitolbend.com or 541-678-5740.
