Maya Elliff hit a pivotal grand slam, Jessie Wiest pitched six innings of shutout relief, and Bend High cashed in on late Redmond errors to beat the Panthers 11-5 in an Intermountain Conference softball game Thursday on the Lava Bears’ home diamond.

Bend has won back-to-back games for the first time since the season’s opening week. But in the third meeting in as many days between the Bears and the Panthers, Redmond had early command.

The Panthers sent nine batters to the plate and scored five runs before Bend starting pitcher Erin Conrad got out of the first inning. Ondriah Oyloe’s two-run single was the big hit of the Redmond rally.

Wiest came on to pitch in the second inning and blanked the Panthers the rest of the way on four hits. But Redmond still led, 5-1, until Elliff’s bases-loaded homer in the fifth tied the score.

Bend (4-5 IMC, 7-11-1 overall) went ahead in the sixth inning when five Redmond errors fueled a six-run uprising and an 11-5 Lava Bears lead that Wiest protected with a scoreless seventh.

Wiest and Emily Smith both had three hits for Bend, and Elliff and Jasmine Nocerino both went 2-for-4.

Oyloe led the Panthers (5-4, 7-10), going 3-for-4. Sydney Tolzman had two of Redmond’s eight hits.

The Bears and Panthers meet for the fourth time this week Friday at Redmond.

Ridgeview 18, The Dalles 1: THE DALLES — The Ravens extended their win streak to 15 games as they pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of nine Riverhawk errors en route to a nonconference win. Allicite Frost struck out six and walked none in five innings in the circle for Ridgeview (15-1), and she went 3-for-5 with four RBIs at the plate. Lorena Vasquez had two hits and an RBI for Ridgeview, and Ally Henry knocked in three runs despite recording just one hit.

South Salem 9, Sisters 4: SALEM — The Outlaws rallied from a 6-1 halftime deficit but came up short in a nonconference contest. Mary Root scored the lone first-half goal for Sisters (7-4), Pearl Gregg scored twice in the second half and Mia Cook finished with one goal for the Outlaws.
