Bend man accused of stabbing 2 after dispute
A 43-year-old Bend man was arrested Friday after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend and another person during a dispute inside a residence on the 19300 block of Kiowa Road, south of Bend.
Marcus S. Steel reportedly arrived at the residence to talk to his ex-girlfriend, a 39-year-old Bend woman, when a physical dispute started inside the living quarters, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.
During the dispute, the woman and a 22-year-old man — who were not identified — were allegedly stabbed by Steel, who ran away.
The woman called 911 at about 1:11 a.m. to report the stabbings.
Sheriff’s office deputies, Oregon State Police troopers and Bend police officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter. Steel’s ex-girlfriend and the male victim were transported to St. Charles Bend with serious injuries.
At about 5:30 a.m., Steel was found in the backyard of a nearby residence. The property owner and his two dogs kept Steel in the yard until deputies arrived and arrested Steel.
Steel was transported by a Bend Fire Department ambulance to St. Charles Bend with serious injuries.
Steel is believed to have injured himself after the dispute at the victim’s residence but before entering the backyard where he was arrested. He remains in the hospital as of Friday afternoon.
