Personal records abound as Sisters wins at home

SISTERS — Ryliereece Morgan won the girls triple jump with a personal-record leap of 34 feet, 7¾ inches, and she added wins in the long and high jumps to lead Sisters to 169.5 points and a victory at the Sisters Rotary Invitational track and field meet on Saturday.

Mandi Calavan was first in the 100-meter dash with a PR of 12.86 seconds and was second in the 200 for the Outlaws, who defeated Lakeview by 38.5 points to place first in the 11-team meet. Also for Sisters, Anna Bartlett won the 800 in a PR 2:29.78, and Kate Bowen was first in the 1,500.

Olivia Symons took second in the long jump for Madras, which was fifth as a team with 50 points, while Alesha Freeman (javelin), Allyson Dominiak (discus) and Laisha Alvarez (800) all placed third. Catylynn Duff won both the shot put and the discus for seventh-place Culver, which totaled 29 points, and Erin Wanamaker was third in both the long jump and the triple jump for Redmond, which was eighth with 22 points.

The Sisters boys narrowly missed completing the team sweep, recording 124 points to finish second to Elmira, which had 125 points. Madras was third with 123 points.

Garrett Kersavage set a PR of 11-6 in winning the pole vault for the Outlaws, and he placed third in the triple jump. Sisters’ Jordan Pollard won the 800 in a personal-best 1:52.24, Hayden Sharp was second in the pole vault and third in the 400, and Ethan Hosang placed second in the 3,000.

Tyler Anderson led the White Buffaloes with first-place finishes in the 3,000 (in a PR 9:25.69) and the 1,500 and a runner-up finish in the 800. Chad Thurby (11.23 seconds in the 100) and Leo Gutierrez (52.33 seconds in the 400) each recorded PRs in their victories for Madras, and Treyvon Easterling won the triple jump and was third in the long jump.

Culver, seventh with 35 points, was highlighted by Kash Michael’s second-place finish in the high jump, and Dylan Moss won the shot put for Redmond, which was ninth with 19 points.

Panthers podium at invite: GLADSTONE — Led by Anthony Spinelli’s victory in the pole vault, the Redmond boys recorded 36 points to take seventh place at the Dick Baker Invitational. The Panthers’ Treyson Conley was second in the 1,500, and Tyson Hester was fourth in the 110 hurdles. La Grande was first as a team with 150 points. For the Redmond girls, who were 13th with four points, Kimberly Roberts took sixth in the 3,000, and Ava Kitchin was eighth in the javelin. Astoria topped the 14-team standings with 108 points.

Hawks thrower shines: GRANTS PASS — With only two athletes competing, the La Pine girls tied for 10th place at the 27-team Grants Pass Rotary Invitational as Jordyn Slater won the shot put and javelin and placed fourth in the discus. Slater’s throw of 42-3½ in the shot was a personal record. Also for the Hawks, Dakota Underwood was 13th in the discus and 15th in the shot put. Grants Pass won with 95.5 points.

La Pine wins invitational: SILVER LAKE — Luis Diaz won the 300 hurdles and the pole vault, Ben Plant took first in the 400 and second in the 200, and the La Pine boys posted 166 points to take first place at the Outback Field & Track Invitational. Mathew Smith won the 800 for La Pine, and Demetrius Dundas was first in the long jump. Kyle Newton won the 3,000 for Gilchrist, which was fifth with 46 points, and Keny Spurlock was second in both the shot put and the discus. Autumn Gerard won the shot put and the discus to highlight the La Pine girls, who were second as a team with 99 points. The Hawks’ Haileigh Michael took third in the pole vault, fourth in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 100 hurdles, Sydney Bright was third in both the 200 and the 400, and Lizzy James finished third in the shot put and fourth in the javelin. Skyla Newton won the 100 meters and the 100 hurdles for Gilchrist, which was sixth with 60.5 points, while Kendra Spurlock (shot put) and Rylee Hoover (long jump) each placed fourth. North Lake topped the eight-team standings with 148 points.

Baseball

Culver 10-10, Heppner 6-5: CULVER — The Bulldogs (6-0 SD6, 10-4 overall) remained unbeaten in league play with a Class 2A/1A Special District 6 doubleheader sweep. Joe Russo had a triple and two RBIs for Culver in the opener, Weston Basl added a hit and two RBIs, and Tadd Anderson had two hits. In the second game, Basl doubled twice and drove in two runs for Culver, Anderson had three hits and two RBIs, and Russo had two hits.

Softball

Molalla 9-8, Crook County 8-18: PRINEVILLE — After four errors and a combined seven walks and hit batters led to the Cowgirls’ opening-game loss, Crook County responded with a five-inning victory to salvage the split in a Tri-Valley Conference doubleheader. In the first game, Abby Dalton went 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs for the Cowgirls. Berkley Puckett and Mekynzie Wells both singled and doubled, and Emma Ackley and Ashley Owens both had home runs. Owens went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in the second game, and Dalton added two hits, including another home run, and four RBIs. Brooke Dalton got the win for Crook County (7-3 TVC, 13-7 overall) with nine strikeouts.

Pilot Rock 18-23, Culver 1-2: CULVER — Ryanne Scholl had a hit in the first game of a doubleheader and added a double and a run scored in the second game, but the Bulldogs were swept in Class 2A/1A Special District 6 action. In the opener, Anyla Rico had the other hit for Culver, and Mia Gamboa scored the Bulldogs’ lone run. Janae Rhen went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the second game for the Bulldogs (0-8 SD6, 0-19 overall), and Keeli Usher had a single and scored a run.

Boys lacrosse

Tigard 9, Summit 4: Justin Radatti had two goals, but the Storm fell in a nonconference game. Jason Ward and Cody Collins each scored once for Summit (2-9).

Sisters 12, McNary 10: SISTERS — Ethan Morgan had five goals, including the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter, and one assist to lead the Outlaws to a nonconference victory. Trey Stadeli and Tyler Friend each scored twice for Sisters (5-5), Noah Keeton, Jake Stevens and Connor Martin had one goal apiece, and Casey Warburton made 11 saves in goal.

Bend 25, Marist 1: The Lava Bears (6-10) captured a nonconference home win with the program’s highest goal total in one game since Bend’s 2016 season opener.

McNary 12, Ridgeview 11: SISTERS — The Ravens (6-5) fell in overtime in a nonconference game at Sisters High.

Girls lacrosse

Summit 14, South Salem 2: Julia Stites had eight goals, Ashlyn Radatti added two, and the host Storm cruised to a nonconference win. Ellie Kessel, Nicole Gallivan and Healy Bledsoe each scored once for Summit (12-1), and Bridget Lockrem finished with 11 saves in goal.

Track and field

Ridgeview boys, girls 7th: GRESHAM — Albert Hesse won the 1,500 and the 3,000 to help the Ridgeview boys post 52 points and take seventh place at the Dean Nice Invite. The Ravens’ girls also placed seventh, with 40 points, as Gabi Crouch took first in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Trevor McBride won the boys 100 and was third in the 200 for the Ravens, and Luke Hannay finished second in both the shot put and the discus. Katie Leavitt (100 hurdles) and Rylee Troutman (javelin) each placed fifth for the Ridgeview girls. Willamette topped the 16-team boys standings with 86 points; Clackamas was first for the girls with 122.
