John Edward Calkins of Redmond, Oregon, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2018, at Partners In Care Hospice House in Bend, Oregon.

John was born in McMinnville, Oregon, October 3, 1936, to Loyd and Louise Calkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and first wife, Rose Marie Calkins. He attended Taft High School in Taft, Oregon, and then went onto business school.

He worked with his father in Calkins Road Construction Company and later was Owner – Operator of Calkins Trucking Company. He enjoyed hunting, world history, and operating heavy equipment.

John is survived by his wife, Jolene Rouse- Calkins; sons, Roger Calkins (wife, Sue), and Dan Calkins; step-sons Steve, Greg, and Mike Rouse; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held Friday May 4th at the Saint Francis of Assisi Historical Church, corner of Franklin and Lava in downtown Bend, Oregon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2450 NE 27th St., Bend, OR 97701, and Partners In Care Hospice House, 2075 NE Wyatt Court, Bend OR 97701.
