The week ahead

A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports (all times Pacific):

Monday

NBA basketball, Philadelphia at Boston, 5 p.m. (TNT): Over the NBA’s 72-year history, these storied franchises have met 19 times in the playoffs — remember Chamberlain vs. Russell in the 1960s, Erving vs. Bird in the ’80s. But Monday’s Game 1 of this Eastern Conference semifinal series will tip off their first playoff meeting in six years and only the third in the past 33 seasons.

Tuesday

College baseball, Oregon State at Oregon, 5:30 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks): The No. 5-ranked Beavers swept a three-game Pac-12 set from the Ducks in Corvallis just over a week ago, and now Oregon can seek a measure of revenge in a nonconference game at PK Park in Eugene. Second-tier pitchers will probably get the call for both teams in this one, but that should not diminish the intensity in a clash of intrastate rivals.

Thursday

Prep track and field, Bend City Championships at Summit, 3:30 p.m.: With the district and state meets fast approaching, the Bend City meet brings together Bend High, Mountain View and Summit for a regular-season finale. Also Thursday, Ridgeview is at Redmond High — site of the IMC championships May 9-10 — in the season’s final tuneup meet for both the Ravens and the Panthers.

Saturday

Horse racing, Kentucky Derby at Louisville, Kentucky, 1 p.m. (NBC): Post time for the 144th Run for the Roses is 3:46 p.m., and the televised broadcast will provide plenty of leadup before the entries get to the starting gate. In the opening leg of the Triple Crown, the early favorites include Justify, who won this year’s Santa Anita Derby and is trained by Bob Baffert, and Magnum Moon, trained by Todd Pletcher.

Sunday

Prep golf, Class 5A Special District 2 Championships at Sunriver Resort, 11:30: In a rare Sunday start to this two-day event, Bend High will be out to defend the title it won last year at Eagle Crest by overcoming a 10-stroke deficit on the second day to end Summit’s eight-year run as district champ. This year’s tournament will be staged on Sunriver’s Meadows course. Summit junior Olivia Loberg is the reigning district tourney medalist.
