ELMIRA — Austin Morss and Hunter Spor combined on a six-inning two-hitter, and Sisters made the most of nine hits in a soggy 13-2 Sky-Em League baseball victory Monday over Elmira.

The win was the third in a row for the third-place Outlaws, who improved to 7-3 in league play (13-6 overall).

“We made some really nice plays on defense,” said Sisters coach Reed Rainey. “And we did just enough on offense to score some runs.”

Zach Morgan had three hits and Taylor Fendall had two to pace the Outlaws. Turner Stutzman hit a triple, and Spencer Kemp hit a two-run double.

The Outlaws scored six runs in the sixth inning for a 13-0 lead. Elmira scored two in the home half of the sixth, but it was not enough to extend the game to the seventh inning as Sisters won via the 10-run rule.

“We just came in and did what we needed to do,” said Rainey, who noted that the game was sluggish at times because of persistent rain and wet playing conditions.

“This is a big week for us,” Rainey added, pointing to a home game Tuesday against Cottage Grove and a doubleheader Friday against Junction City, which enters the month of May with a league-leading 9-2 record.
