Sisters walks off with a win

SISTERS — No lead, it seems, is safe against Sisters High.

After allowing two runs in the top of the seventh inning to trail by two, the Outlaws plated three runs in the home half to walk off with a 3-2 Sky-Em League baseball victory over Cottage Grove and remain in the hunt for the league championship.

Austin Morss led the way with three hits, as Sisters (8-3 Sky-Em, 14-6 overall) won its fourth straight to move into second place in the league standings. The Outlaws are 1½ games back of Junction City, which visits Sisters for a doubleheader Friday.

Against Cottage Grove, Austin Lake had two hits, and Taylor Fendall and Zach Morgan each drove in a run.

Bend 23, Mountain View 0: The Class 5A No. 9-ranked Lava Bears led by just one run heading into the bottom of the third inning, but 22 runs in that frame propelled Bend to an Intermountain Conference victory. Austin Jones paced the Bears (9-2 IMC, 13-6 overall) with three hits and four RBIs. Reese Gordon was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Bend, Marshall Davis tripled and drove in three runs, Cooper Simmonds and Cole Frey each had a double and three RBIs, and Tysen Scott and Steve Talamantes each had two hits and two RBIs. Carson Anderson led Mountain View (4-7, 4-16) with two hits, and Shandon Malikowski and Carson Samples finished with a hit apiece.

Ridgeview 8, Redmond 7: The host Ravens scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held off a Redmond rally for an Intermountain Conference win. Evan Hockett had three hits for Ridgeview (3-7 IMC, 5-15 overall), and Nate Restivo and Logan Carson each drove in two runs. Cooper Browning led the Panthers (2-9, 6-14) with two hits and two RBIs, and Kyle Simpson added two hits.

Pleasant Hill 10, La Pine 9: PLEASANT HILL — The Billies scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning en route to a 7-1 lead and held off an eight-run fourth inning to grab a Mountain Valley Conference victory. Ben Plant homered for the Class 3A No. 2-ranked Hawks (8-1 MVC, 15-2 overall), and Riley Pinckney had a double.

Sherman 5, Culver 4: MORO — In a battle of Class 2A/1A Special District 6 co-leaders, the Bulldogs came up short to snap a six-game winning streak. Jordan Bender was 2-for-3 with a double for Culver (6-1 SD6, 10-5 overall), Tadd Anderson had two hits, and Jamal Ortiz drove in a run.

Softball

Bend 4, Mountain View 2: Jessie Wiest struck out five in a complete game and went 2-for-3 with a double to help the Lava Bears pull even with Mountain View for third place in the Intermountain Conference. Jasmine Nocerino, Madison Anderson and Maya Elliff each had RBI singles for Bend (5-6 IMC, 8-12-1 overall), and Madilynn Weisner drove in a run. Skylar Garcia was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Mountain View (5-6, 6-10), and Kayla Berg doubled and had nine strikeouts in a complete game.

Cottage Grove 5, Sisters 4: COTTAGE GROVE — Isabel Spitler singled, doubled and drove in a run, but Cottage Grove scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to steal a Sky-Em League win. Tatum Sitz and Keely Molloy had RBI singles for the Outlaws (1-11 Sky-Em, 2-18 overall), Jourdan Andrews drove in a run, and Sophia Affatida and Madi Larabee had a single apiece.

La Pine 11, Pleasant Hill 5: PLEASANT HILL — The Hawks won their fourth straight, rallying from a 6-2 deficit with a seven-run fifth inning in a Mountain Valley Conference victory. After La Pine (5-6 MVC, 10-10 overall) led off the fifth with a walk and a series of singles, SueAnn Marsh cleared the bases with a three-run double. Josey Hawkins had a double, singled twice and scored three runs for La Pine, and Stephanie Herndon went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

Boys lacrosse

Mountain View 11, Bend 10: The visiting Cougars overcame a 6-1 deficit and grabbed a one-score lead, but Bend scored with four seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Still, Mountain View secured the High Desert Conference win in OT to move into first place in the HDC standings. James Lewis paced the Cougars (2-0 HDC, 6-2 overall) with six goals and two assists. Luke Musgrave had three goals for Bend (2-2, 6-11), while Spencer Steckman and Bennett Bury each scored twice. Spencer Burgess had a goal and three assists for the Lava Bears, Preston Sell had a goal and two assists, and Kaden Davis scored once.
