If you’re up on your human anatomy, you can guess that Bend-based band Circle of Willis does not have a member named Willis, and is certainly not forming a circle around him. Rather, the name references the part of the circulatory system that supplies blood to the brain and thus allows for artistic thought, as lead guitarist Tim Cash put it. The name is actually appropriate for the self-described “rock-fueled, pop-centric, jazz-tinged, blues-infused” band, which after a few years of playing is looking to turn its shows into multimedia experiences that use the band members’ other artistic talents (Cash is a local filmmaker with FARfromEARTH Films, while lead vocalist/guitarist Gary Fulkerson owns DVA Advertising & Public Relations). Expect a full light show, video, audience participation, costumes and more at the band’s show at 2nd Street Theater on Friday, along with guest appearances from Jim Goodwin (The Call) and Joe Schulte (Moon Mountain Ramblers). Cascade School of Music’s student band Gen17 will open the show.
Circle of Willis, with Gen17, Jake Woodmansee: 7:30 p.m. Friday; $8 plus fees in advance, $10 at the door; 2nd Street Theater, 220 NE Lafayette Ave., Bend; 2ndstreettheater.com or 541-312-9626.
