85-year-old found dead in Portland was killed — Police say detectives are investigating the death of an 85-year-old man in Portland on Thursday as a homicide. Portland Police said late Friday the man has been identified as Eugene Gora, of Portland. Police say a friend had found Gora dead in his home Thursday evening. The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office determined Gora died from homicidal violence. Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the Portland Police Bureau.

Woodburn man gets 8 years for raping teen — Juan Santos-Gonzalez, 22, was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison after he pleaded guilty to raping a girl under 14. He was arrested by Woodburn Police in January and charged with sex crimes, including first-degree rape. He pleaded guilty to rape and sodomy charges, and the remaining charges were dismissed as part of his plea agreement. Marion County Judge Courtland Geyer sentenced Santos-Gonzalez last week to prison and almost 12 years of post-prison supervision. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
