Floats, marching bands, motor clubs, and horses—lots and lots of horses—will highlight this year’s Sisters Rodeo Parade, an annual tradition that goes hand-in-hand with the 78th annual PRCA Sisters Rodeo.
Scheduled to begin at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 9 in downtown Sisters, the hour-long parade will take place along Cascade Avenue. The parade is sponsored by the Mountain Group.
“There’s something about this parade that people love,” said Jeri Buckmann, parade co-coordinator. “There’s glitter and glamour, and yet it’s small town.”
Sisters 2018 Rodeo Queen Hailey Konze will be on hand, as will this year’s rodeo grand marshal, longtime bullfighter Rowdy Barry.
“I am very excited about this year’s parade,” Buckmann said. “I think all of this year’s entries are going to be awesome and make this parade the special event that it is.”
“It’s flag-waving, foot-stomping, fun entertainment for all ages, with horses, dogs, and music. We even have the Oregon Duck and the Oregon State Beaver!” shared parade co-coordinator Vicki Allen.
An announcer’s booth will be located midway along the Cascade Avenue stretch of the parade route with R.L. Garrigus of KSJJ providing commentary for spectators.
“So come and join us for the annual rodeo parade,” Buckmann encouraged. “There’s something for everyone!”
