Microchip Technology Inc., based in Chandler, Arizona, has completed its acquisition of Microsemi Corp.
The acquisition was announced March 1 with Microchip agreeing to pay $68.78 per share in cash for Microsemi, which has an engineering group and silicon wafer fabrication line in Bend. Microchip said Thursday the acquisition was completed May 29. Microchip is traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange under “MCHP.”
Prior to the acquisition, Microsemi, based in Aliso Viejo, California, planned to move wafer production from Bend to India, Ireland and other overseas locations by 2020, potentially displacing 100 people. A Microchip spokeswoman said in March that it was too early to predict whether the relocation plan would continue post-merger.
