Woman running across Third Street runs into bus

A female pedestrian running across Third Street was seriously injured Friday afternoon when she ran into a school bus near the intersection of Southeast Third Street and Southwest Division Street in Bend.

Bend police and fire departments responded at 2:53 p.m. to the incident. The Bend-La Pine Schools bus had two passengers and neither was injured.

The bus driver, who was also uninjured, is cooperating with the investigation, according to Bend Police.

The woman, who has not been identified, was transported to St. Charles Bend.

She was on the sidewalk in front of 7-Eleven on Southeast Third Street when she ran out into the roadway and into the rear passenger side of the moving school bus, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing and Bend Police is asking for any witnesses to please call non-emergency dispatch 541-693-3911.
