An informational meeting for an Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League middle school mountain bike team is set for Pine Mountain Sports in Bend at 7 p.m. Thursday.

According to www.oregonmtb.org, the Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League was founded in 2017 as a nonprofit project league of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), which develops interscholastic mountain biking programs for student-athletes across the United States.

The goal this year is to develop a middle school mountain bike team/club based in Bend and recruit and train a coaching staff, according to parent volunteer Debbi Mason. Long-term plans include the development of a team for high school students in Central Oregon.

Parents, student-athletes and interested community members are encouraged to attend the Thursday meeting.
