A truck struck a bicyclist Saturday morning in west Bend and drove off, despite having caused serious injuries to the cyclist. Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies are now asking the public’s help finding the alleged hit-and-run driver.
According to witnesses, a blue mid-sized pick-up truck with a white canopy hit the cyclist around 10:30 a.m. in the area of Syline Ranch Road and Macalpine Loop, and then fled the scene. The vehicle was similar to a Dodge Dakota, but the make and model were unknown. The vehicle was last seen on Skyline Ranch Road heading toward Skyliners Road with a driver and a passenger. The passenger was reported to have long hair but no other description was reported.
Police have released three images of a vehicle of interest in the crash, which were taken from video surveillance recovered from the area near the crash.
People with information related to the incident are asked to call 541-693-6911.
