Basketball
Redmond School District to host 3-on-3 tourney — The Redmond School District will the Hub City Hoop Jam, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Aug. 11 and 12. Teams can choose from a number of divisions based on age and skill level. Registration is now available at www.hubcityhoopjam.com.
COBO Advanced Basketball Camp coming up on July 16-19 — Central Oregon Basketball Organization will host an advanced basketball camp at Mountain View High School on July 16-19. Boys and girls entering second through fifth grades will receive instruction from 9 a.m. to noon, and kids in sixth through ninth grades will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. Registration costs $99 for Bend Park & Recreation District residents and $119 for those who live outside the district. Softball
Warm Springs wins District 5 junior softball tournament — The Warm Springs Nation junior softball all-star team won the Little League District 5 tournament, which was held in Redmond. Warm Springs beat John Day 23-12 in the opening game of the tournament and then beat Redmond 13-10. Warm Springs and Redmond met again in the final, with Warm Springs winning 17-10. Warm Springs has won its first two games at the Oregon State Little League Junior Softball tournament, beating Pendleton and Klamath Falls. The team plays at 6 p.m. Monday, when it faces Salem.
Table Tennis
BTTC members win regional tournaments — Bend Table Tennis Club player Harold Bunyi won the Under 1300 division at the Rose City Open in Portland on June 16, beating Portland’s Cheery Zhang 3-1 in the finals. Bunyi was also the runner-up in the Under 1500 event, losing to Salem’s Nikolay Babere 3-0 in the division final. Bend’s Paul Sample won the Under 1400 Singles division at the Seattle Pacific Table Tennis Club June Open in Bellevue, Washington, on June 23-24. He beat Dinesh Monteiro 3-2 in the division final.
