Richard “Dick” Winkle

Richard “Dick” Winkle passed away on June 21, 2018 at the age of 71.

An Oregon native, Dick grew up in Corvallis and served in Vietnam. After attending Portland State University, he moved to Bend to start his family. A few short years later, he built a home in Sunriver where he lived for 39 years. He worked as a security officer for COCC for 23 years and then started his own security company in Sunriver.

Dick was an avid mountain climber and climbed nearly all the peaks in the Cascade Range many times. He was passionate about camping, hiking, birding and studying local geology.

Dick will be remembered by his wife of 48 years, Mary (Pollard), his children, Jim and Linda (Michael) as well as his four grandchildren.
