Oregon State head coach Pat Casey has been named national coach of the year by Collegiate Baseball, the publication announced Monday.

Casey led the Beavers to the program’s third national championship last week, and their 5-0 victory over Arkansas to clinch the College World Series was Casey’s 900th career win at Oregon State. The Beavers became just the second team ever to win six elimination games at the CWS en route to the title. The other was the 2006 Oregon State team, also coached by Casey.

In Casey’s 24th season at OSU, the Beavers won 55 games in 2018, one shy of the school-record 56 they won in 2017. The Beavers posted a record of 111-18-1 over the past two seasons.

According to an Oregon State release, Casey, 59, has now been named national coach of the year by at least one publication in five different seasons: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2017 and 2018.
