Deschutes County sheriff’s detectives, aided by tips from the community, were able to find and seize a pickup truck thought to have been involved in a hit-and-run collision June 22.
Detectives continue to gather information and have someone they want to interview, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, which seized the white Dodge pickup Friday, five days after the accident.
The accident occurred about 7:20 p.m. on Old Bend-Redmond Highway, north of SW Young Avenue.
A blue 2010 Subaru WRX, driven by Alberto Hernandez, 26, of Redmond, was following a pickup truck as both vehicles traveled north on the Old Bend-Redmond Highway, according to the sheriff’s office. Hernandez passed the truck, but the truck then hit the right rear of the Subaru, the sheriff’s office said. The impact sent the Subaru skidding out of control, off the highway and into a juniper tree.
The pickup truck left the scene without stopping.
Hernandez was taken to St. Charles Redmond with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
