Lauren Davis Baker is a freelance writer and editor. She is the former owner of Flying Changes, a magazine for Northwest sporthorse enthusiasts, and relentlessly pursues the sport of dressage, with more enthusiasm than talent. Depending on the season, she also cycles with the Bend Bellas or her husband on Phil’s Trail.
Damian Fagan is a freelance writer and COCC Community Learning instructor. He enjoys birding and botanizing while hiking in Central Oregon’s wild lands. He lives in Bend with his wife, Raven.
A native of Sweden, Tor Hanson moved to Bend in 1991. He is a published journalist and author in both Sweden and the United States. Also a local historian, he is currently researching the rich history of Sunriver for a new book. Tor is married to Nancy and has two daughters.
Retirement came early for Cathryn Hardman. By then, she already had more than 10 years of volunteer experience. Always ready to pitch in for a good cause. her contribution is typically digital in nature—photography, writing, graphics, social media. Outreach events are also a favorite volunteer activity.
Freelance writer and editor Gregg Morris honed his wit in a suburban Michigan basement and his gift for the written word at Michigan State University. After obtaining his BA, he packed up his midwestern charm and headed west. When not writing, Gregg can be found riding his bike or playing guitar alongside his wife and daughter.
Dani Nichols loves to write and has 10 years of experience as a journalist, editor, and copywriter. When she’s not writing, Dani is likely teaching therapeutic horseback riding at Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center in Bend, cooking for friends and family, or enjoying the outdoors with her husband and kids. Linda Orcelletto’s 20+ year professional career includes writing, fundraising, and event management. She is a database geek, community connector, and chronic list maker. She, her husband Joe, and furry friend Barley love finding and exploring secret spots in Oregon.
Rachel Raburn is a freelance writer and portrait photographer, with dreams of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail with her husband someday. She also enjoys painting and quilting, and keeps busy home-schooling her five kids. Her busy, crazy, and amazing family live in Madras with their fat orange cat, Garfield.
After three decades in Seattle, where she raised her family, Sue Stafford returned to her native Oregon and Sisters, the place of her heart since childhood. Her days now are filled with freelance writing and teaching a guided autobiography class through COCC. With other Sisters locals, she is excited to be establishing the Three Sisters Historical Society.
Mike Wilson, of Bend, works in ESPN’s Stats & Information Group. Working remotely, he publishes material on the BottomLine, edits and produces content for all of ESPN’s platforms and helps manage a Twitter account with more than 1.6 million followers. Previously, he worked at The Oregonian, The Register-Guard and The Bulletin.
Grant Woods is a freelance writer. An insatiable curiosity and diverse background allow him to approach new projects with enthusiasm. He is inspired by honest and courageous writing. The open-ended quality of storytelling constantly brings him back to the keyboard.
Katy Yoder left her job last year to follow her dream of being a full-time writer, working for local newspapers and magazines. In between gigs, she’s writing a memoir. She spends her nonwriting time with her family’s four horses, two dogs, and five happy hens. She plays golf and kayaks with her husband, Gary, and bakes great sourdough bread.
