LONGVIEW, Wash. — Shut out for the second time in three games, the Bend Elks were swept out of southwest Washington on Sunday night.

Four Cowlitz pitchers combined on a two-hitter and the Black Bears made it three straight over the Elks with a 2-0 victory at Story Field.

Singles by Alex Pallios, in the second inning, and Collin Runge, in the eighth, were the only hits of the game for Bend. Elks starter A.J. Atherton and three relievers checked Cowlitz on five hits. Atherton allowed the game’s only run in the second inning on a two-out double by Jonathan Hodo.

The Elks, who lost 3-2 in 10 innings Saturday night, were blanked 2-0 in the series opener Friday.

Bend is off Monday and opens a three-game series against the Victoria HarbourCats in British Columbia on Tuesday. The Elks’ next home game is Friday against Yakima.
