March 18, 1927 – June 18, 2018
Our Lord took Lloyd by the hand and led him to his new home in Heaven on June 18, 2018. He was 91 years of age and under hospice care with family by his side. Lloyd L. Evans was born to Helen and William Ovid Evans on March 18, 1927 in Bend, Oregon. Lloyd was educated in the Kenwood, Reid, and Allen schools but ultimately graduated from Bend High in 1945.
He, along with his parents, owned and operated Evans Fly Company, which opened in 1936. Lloyd especially enjoyed repairing rifles and outboard motors and was known for advising customers on where the best fishing spots were. When the store eventually closed in the mid 60s, Lloyd went to work delivering gas and oil – but that company sold as well to make room for the parkway in Bend. He then worked for RL Coats Construction Company, from which he retired in 1990 after 6 loyal years of service.
In his younger years, Lloyd was very involved with the local and state Elks. He was elected Exalted Ruler of the Bend Elks lodge from 1957-1958 and served on the Board of Trustees at the state level for 5 years. Lloyd also enjoyed his time as a volunteer fireman for the Bend Fire Department – he retired as a Captain after 22 years of service. In his spare time he loved hunting, fishing, golf, and other outdoorsman activities.
Lloyd and Anna Josephine (Harris) were married in Reno, Nevada on May 29, 1946. They recently celebrated their 72nd anniversary together. The couple had 2 children, Ted, now deceased, and Pam. Thanks to his family and friends, his life was full of love and happiness.
Lloyd and his Anna were very fortunate to be able to travel through much of the Northwest and Southwest United States on their way to El Centro, California. There they spent 23 years as “snowbirds” and came to consider their entire RV Park as a second family. They were also able to enjoy several cruises, the most memorable being a trip through the Panama Canal.
Lloyd is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife, Anna; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Jack Frederiksen; beloved pet poodle, Sassie; 2 grandchildren, Lori and Danny; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. His mother, father, and sister, Kathy Farnsworth, predeceased him.
Memorial services for friends and family will be held at a later date. Father James Radloft will officiate. Donations in Lloyd’s memory may be made to the Three Rivers Animal Shelter in Madras, Oregon. The family would also like to thank St. Charles Hospice for their incredible work and compassion.
