• Cellular Sales, a Verizon Wireless retailer, has opened at 1850 N. Highway 97 in Redmond. Grand opening festivities and special deals on purchases will run through Sunday.

• Clifton Cannabis Law is sponsoring “Highly Enlightened Discussions,” a pub-talk style event focused on innovation and evolution in the cannabis industry at McMenamins Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St., Thursday from 5-11 p.m. The talk will be co-presented by Celebrate Cannabis and the Oregon Cannabis Association.

• Hayden Homes has begun construction on a 3,200 square-foot convent for St. Francis Church in Redmond. Sponsors of the project include Hayden Homes, St. Francis Church, the parish community and numerous partners. The convent, the first new construction in 58 years, will be the residence of the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco who will be arriving from Texas to teach at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School beginning in the fall of 2018.
