Roger and Kathy Wolcott celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family vacationing for a week on the Northern California coast in Mendocino.
The couple were married on June 21, 1968 in Whittier, California. They have two children, Lisa Wolcott (and Alex) Sebastian, of Fairfax, California, and Kristen Wolcott, of San Anselmo, California, and one grandchild.
Mr. Wolcott received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in fisheries and oceanography from the University of Washington in 1968 and 1970, respectively, and was an at-sea fishery biologist with the Department of Interior Fish and Wildlife Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for 25 years. He is a former medic on the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office mountain rescue unit and had worked on Northwest Indian fishing treaty rights.
Ms. Wolcott received a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University if Colorado in 1967 and worked for 10 years before volunteering at the California Marine Mammal Center for 15 years, rescuing and rehabilitating sea mammals in northern California.
The couple enjoy hiking, backcountry skiing, birding, canoeing, reading, traveling and spending time with family.
They have lived in Central Oregon for 23 years.
