Folkestad

Bob and Marjorie (Flesher) Folkestad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at the Bend Church of the Nazarene hosted by their children.

They were married Sept. 9, 1967, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They have three children, Paul (and Kim), of Pleasant Hill, California, Linda (and Genti) Saliu, of Bend, and Beth (and Jeremy) Guy, of Bend; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Folkestad worked for the U.S. Forest Service before attending and graduating from seminary school in 1969.

Mrs. Folkestad became a registered nurse while living in Edmonton. Mr. Folkestad worked as a minister in Washington, Oregon and Mozambique, South Africa, for 15 years, before the couple moved to Bend to enjoy skiing and hiking. They stayed involved in missionary work making repeated trips to at least six other countries. Mr. Folkestad worked as a custodian for the Bend-La Pine school district for 17 years.

The couple have lived in Central Oregon for 33 years.
