Yaw
Ralph and Evelyn Yaw, of Bend, are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Sunday afternoon.
The couple were married on Nov. 19, 1952, in Winnemucca, Nevada. They have one child, Debbie (Rudy) Dory, of Bend, and survive two other children, Stephen, of Portland, and Peggy Generaux, of Vancouver, Washington. They have four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Evelyn was born in Bend, and Ralph moved to Central Oregon at the age of 8, from Sandpoint, Idaho. They lived in and around Sisters and Redmond and are graduates of Sisters High School. They enjoyed water skiing, rock hounding, hunting and fishing for decades. Ralph and Evelyn both obtained private pilot licenses and spent time admiring Central Oregon from the air. An accomplished craftsman, Ralph built his own aircraft as well as many model airplanes, hunting knives and long rifles. He retired from the lumber industry more than 20 years ago. Evelyn worked in retail when not raising Debbie and retired 15 years ago. She now loves to sew, oil paint and tend to her vast garden.
They have lived in Bend together for 65 years.
