Sunriver Stars — Community theater troupe The Sunriver Stars has announced its 2018-19 season, which will open Oct. 19 with the musical “Oliver.” Victoria Kristy, artistic director of The Sunriver Stars, will direct an all-ages cast of 47. Auditions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 16 in Room 208 above Village Properties, 56835 Venture Lane, in the Sunriver business district.
Laughs will be in store much of the season, which continues with a screwball comedy version of “The Canterbury Tales” (Nov. 30 and Dec. 1), the comedy “Suite Surrender” (March 8-16), and the comedic murder mystery “The Butler Did It!” (June 7-15).

Bill Hoppe art talk — At 6 p.m. Wednesday7/25, Bend artist and Central Oregon Community College art professor Bill Hoppe will discuss his life in the art world and his current show of geometric abstracts, “Paintings and Paper Projects, 1970-2017.” The talk is free and open to the public, and will take place At Liberty Arts Collective, 849 NW Wall St., in downtown Bend, where the show hangs through July 28.
