Attempted murder suspect arrested in Sisters

A Portland man accused of attempted murder in Multnomah County was arrested Tuesday morning in Sisters.

The Portland Police Bureau contacted Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office last week asking for help to find and arrest 45-year-old Alexander John Walton, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

The law enforcement agencies discovered Walton was living in Sisters and established a plan to arrest Walton.

Deschutes County and Portland detectives joined the sheriff’s office SWAT team and arrested Walton at about 5 a.m. Tuesday as he left a vehicle near the intersection of East Cascade Avenue and North Fir Street in Sisters.

Walton was booked in Deschutes County Jail on $510,000 bail. He was transported to Multnomah County Jail.

He faces charges in Multnomah County of attempted murder with a firearm, second-degree assault with a firearm, unlawful use of a firearm and being felon in possession of a firearm.

The charges stem from an incident on June 1, according to court records.
