Golf tourney to benefit Madras High football — A fundraiser golf tournament to benefit the Madras High School football program is scheduled for Aug. 11 at Kah-Nee-Ta Golf Course near Warm Springs. A shotgun start for the four-player scramble is set for 10 a.m. Entry fee is $60 per person or $240 for a team and includes green fees, carts and lunch. Sisters driver tops in class at Rose Cup — Erik Dolson, of Sisters, took first place in the Vintage race group at the 58th Rose Cup Races, held July 13-15 at Portland International Raceway. Dolson was first in the VP3 category (production cars over 3200cc), placing ahead of runner-up Norm Daniels, of Vancouver, Washington.

WATER POLO

Local teams in Jr. Olympics competition — Teams representing the Bend Waves Water Polo Club are taking part in national Junior Olympics tournaments this week in Santa Clara, California. In the 18U boys division, which got underway Saturday, Waves players are Andrew Schultz, Carl Bohme, Chance Caruso, Ian Busby, Kieran Perret, Kole Miller, Micah Rodriguez, Noah Weedman, Taiton Fox, Tarren Black and Zach Griswold; the team is coached by Ryan Duffy. Play begins Thursday in the 18U girls division, which includes the Waves team of Abby Chunestudy, Phaedra Marks, Sophia Thomas, Annaluisa Carrillo, Conner Hamlin, Raena Mcdonald, Gillian Fritz and Hayden Hulser; the squad is coached by Sean Searles. Also, three members of the Waves’ 14U girls team — Tegan Perret, Eva Henneman and Ana Henneman — have been selected to play on an all-Oregon championship team at the Junior Olympics.
